The Andrew H. and Janet Dayton Neilly Book Fund
Date Established: 1997

The fund was originated by John Wiley & Sons to honor Andrew Neilly, Class of 1947, a Life Trustee of the University of Rochester, and his wife, Janet. The company contributed $25,000 to establish a fund to purchase books in literature and science for Rush Rhees Library. The Neillys subsequently made additonal contributions to the Fund.

The Andrew H. and Janet Dayton Neilly Dean of River Campus Libraries' Endowment
Date Established: 2000

The purpose of the endowment is to support the River Campus Libraries. Endowment income may be used to enhance library collections related to the academic programs of the College or may be used to sponsor library initiatives that serve to improve the intellectual climate for students and faculty. Income may be also used to encourage community involvement and support for the library. The million-dollar gift also established a named deanship. Andrew H. Neilly, Class of 1947, and his wife grew up in Rochester. Janet Dayton Neilly attended William Smith College and Northwestern University. Mr. Neilly had a distinguished career in the field of publishing, serving as president, CEO, and vice chairman of the board of John Wiley & Sons before his retirement in 1995. Mr. Neilly served as a member of the University's Board of Trustees and is now a Life Trustee. He served as co-chair of the Libraries' Advisory Council from 1997 to 2004.
