Dr. Vandeusen played a special role in the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections. He was instrumental in the acquisition of two important manuscript collections and wrote the definitive biographies of William H. Seward and Thurlow Weed. He was known to have introduced many graduate students to the joys and challenges of research in original source material. Dr. Vandeusen was a graduate of the Class of 1925 from the University of Rochester.
Endowed Funds - V
Elizabeth and William Vaughn established a charitable remainder trust fund for the development of Library collections in the humanities and the arts. Mr. Vaughn was a former member of the Board of Trustees for a period of 35 years, who maintained a lifelong interest in undergraduate education. Mr. Vaughn, who died in 1996, also donated almost 3,000 volumes to the library.
